What is “oobleck?”

Today we experimented with “oobleck”. This is a mixture of corn starch and water that rapidly changes consistencies as it is handled. Many of the children like to describe it as having a “melting” effect. Not only is it a cool sensory experiment, it provides an opportunity for scientific conversations!!!

Several other activities occurred in the classroom also. We introduced the “The Red Lemon”. This particular book is a great tool for learning to rhyme! We practiced counting with wine corks and experimented with gravity by building marble tracks. Time outside is always a highlight of the day!
