Development Associate
The Development Associate works as a member of the development team; participates in cultivation and stewardship activities, sources and manages grants, written and virtual campaigns, blogs and social media, and general development activities to effectively and efficiently carry out responsibilities of the department in order to raise money.
St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center offers two initiatives that are designed to impact school readiness and provide significant life-long positive outcomes: the Preschool Program and Professional Development Program.
Position Duties
- Responsible for aspects of grant process including preparation, submission, reporting and management at the direction of the Chief Development Office and the Executive Director.
- Responsible for research (project, grant, major gifts, laws, items, resources, etc)
- Write content for classroom blogs, email communications and monthly newsletter
- Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence
- Responsible for entering information into eTapestry, Delivra and Greater Giving as well as producing specialized reports and materials
- Assist with volunteer activities both preparation prior and the day of coordination
- Develop relationships with funders, both new and existing, in order to secure donations, stewardship and cultivation
- Provide support for special events including item follow up and pick up, solicitation, reservation contacts, etc.
- Increase community awareness of St. Mary’s mission through participation in community fairs and engagement opportunities for groups
- Assists with the preschool Christmas sponsorship program
- Provides support for the Board of Directors
- Other duties as necessary to ensure efficient functioning of St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center
Position Qualifications
- Success in working independently, with minimal supervision, and as a team member, managing time, handling multiple responsibilities, following instructions, problem solving, being proactive, setting priorities and meeting deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to organize large amounts of information, plan ahead, accuracy and attention to details
- Communicate extensively and effectively via telephone/TDD, one-on-one conversations, face-to-face, public presentations, and written correspondence
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is required
- Ability to get along well and collaborate with others
- Willingness to foster the church’s and St. Mary’s missions
- Understand and comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
- Successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training and all licensing requirements
- Acceptance of the beliefs and ways of the work of St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Experience with donor-based software, (specifically etapestry is preferred)
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising or degree in related field is preferred

Special Events Coordinator
The Special Events Coordinator manages and implements all special events for St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center including event logistics, sponsorships, marketing, item donations, committee activities and event follow-up. Must work as a member of the development team; participate in activities for cultivation and stewardship of donors and community outreach.

Position Duties
- Show respect for children and families of varying cultures.
- Ensure the safety of all children.
- To create events and make them happen.
- Solicits and secures event sponsorships, donations, and items.
- Plans and implements marketing and logistics for all agency special events, creating tasks lists.
- Implements appropriate event follow-up.
- Cultivates and stewards donors.
- Facilitates and implements activities of the committees for each event.
- Responsible for entering information into donor and event databases as well as producing specialized reports and materials.
- Participates, as part of the development team, to increase community awareness of St. Mary’s mission.
- Succeeds in meeting established special event goals as established on an annual basis as well as timely completion of assignments.
- Accountable for maintaining accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality of files, correspondence, and records maintained by the development department.
- Coordinate and manage the emerging leaders’ committee.
- Responsible for third-party events (communication, management, and attendance).
- Assists with the preschool Christmas sponsorship program.
- Perform other duties as necessary to ensure efficient functioning of St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
- Understand and comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct.

Interim Director of Preschool and Professional Development
St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center of Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking on site Director of Preschool and Director of Professional Development. The interim position would be through the end of the school year and into the summer months with the opportunity to become long term director as a new year begins. The Director of Preschool Program and Professional Development oversees the Early Childhood teachers, associate teachers, and curriculum coaches. In collaboration with the Director of Outreach and Professional Development, the Director of Preschool assists with the planning of professional development initiatives and goals.
St. Mary’s Child Center is a NAEYC-accredited, licensed, Level 4 Paths to Quality preschool following the principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
