The children were able to take their interest in cooking further with our school chef, Ms. Susan. The decision was made by the class to make applesauce and they were very excited to get started. The children worked very diligently to mix in ingredients and mash the apples as they cooked. Once the applesauce was closed to finished, Ms. Susan joined the class to see how they had done with using her recipe. It turns out that Mr. Bryan goofed… and grabbed salt instead of sugar! This actually turned into a wonderful learning opportunity, as Ms. Susan quickly noticed his mistake and led the children to find the sugar they needed and taught them how to add an appropriate amount in order to ‘fix’ the applesauce!
