Birthday Parties

Students from room three have been exploring the idea of birthdays. We noticed that acting out birthday parties was a common topic of play in the classroom. The children were often creating birthday cakes out of loose parts, sand and play dough. We have started bringing in props like candles, sprinkles and streamers for the children to explore, as well as checking out related books from the library. During meeting we created a word web to find out what the children already knew about birthdays, and to get ideas from them as to where to take our project next.
